RYA Course Application Form

TSC will be running RYA1 & 2 beginners sailing courses on dates through May / June / July. The courses are intended to introduce you to dinghy sailing. They include all the basic boat handling techniques and you will steer the boat through most of these during the course. There is some background theory but the emphasis is on you practising sailing. The course is normally taught in Laser 2000 dinghies with 2 students and an Instructor in each boat. Singlehanded Lasers and Toppers may also be used.

Where Tynemouth Sailing Club ; the club is at Prior’s Haven just inside the North Pier at Tynemouth. Post Code location is NE30 4DG. There is some parking at the club or at the adjacent Spanish Battery public car park. The Metro is within walking distance and the No 306 bus stops at the Castle/Priory.
When 9.00 to 17.00 Please arrive promptly.
Clothing See here. We do not recommend that you buy any clothing at this stage.
Lunch Please bring a packed lunch. Hot drinks will be available.
Safety A safety boat will be present at all times. The RYA Instructors hold first aid certificates.
Syllabus Royal Yachting Association Start Sailing level 1. A beginners Handbook and Logbook will be provided for you .
Fee The cost of each course is noted on the booking form – currently (2020) this is £170 for each course. This includes membership for the balance of the year. Cheques payable to “Tynemouth Sailing Club” or use online banking as noted in the Spond booking form. If the participant cancels within one calendar month of the course fees will not be refunded.
