Instructor Induction

Tynemouth Sailing Club members who are newly qualified as Instructors and any External Instructors will be required to read the Operating Procedures and Appendices and sign off that they have read, & agree to operate within them. They will then attend a meeting with the Training Principal/Chief Sailing Instructor or Chief Powerboat Instructor as appropriate who will go through the Risk Assessments with particular emphasis on local hazards and will explain the organisation of the training programmes.

Clubhouse First Aid Kit, Accident Report Book and Equipment Faults / Repair Book will be pointed out.

External Sailing Instructors will be shown the club facilities and the club training dinghies including topper masts and all sail storage arrangements. External Powerboat Instructors will be shown over the RIBs and Committee Boat.
Note. It is rare for the club to use Instructors who are not members.

All instructors are required to adhere to the RYA instructor code of conduct – see here
