ILCA CLASS OPEN MEETING Qualifies for: ILCA Class UK Lakes & Borders Grand Prix Series – 2025 ILCA Class North East Youth Traveller Series – 2025 SATURDAY 24th May 2025
NOTICE OF RACE
1. VENUE:
Racing to be held at sea or on the Tyne Estuary, depending upon conditions. Launching from Priors Haven, Tynemouth, on the north bank of the Estuary adjacent to Tynemouth Castle. Changing and refreshment facilities available in the Clubhouse.
2. PROGRAMME:
3 races programmed. First race start at 11.30 am. 2nd & 3rdraces to follow (back to back). 3. ELIGABILITY:
3.1 The series is open to ILCA 7, ILCA 6 and ILCA 4 rig sizes. (formerly Standard, Radial and 4.7) 4. TIDES:
High Water on Saturday 24th May is at 15.40
5. RULES:
5.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028 and the Sailing Instructions (SI’s).
5.2 In the event of any inconsistencies between this NOR and the SI’s; the SI’s will prevail. 5.3 RRS Appendix T [Arbitration & Post Race 30% Exoneration Penalty] shall apply when both parties to a protest so choose.
6. RACING FORMAT:
6.1 Depending on entry numbers for each rig size, TSC may choose to adopt any of the following racing formats.
(i) A common start for all rig sizes
(ii) A fleet start for each of the individual rig sizes.
(iii) A fleet start for the rig size with the most entries and a common start for the remaining two rig sizes
7. SCORING:
7.1 Scoring shall comply with Para 6 of the Notice of Race for the ILCA Class Lakes & Borders Gran Series-2025 7.2 One race is required to be completed to constitute a series.
7.3 If all 3 races are sailed, one result may be discarded.
7.4 Scoring shall comply with RRS Appendix A.
7.5 The scoring for the regatta shall adopt the 2025 PY for each rig size, together with elapsed race times, to derive an overall result.
7.6 If paras 6(ii) or 6(iii) are adopted , ‘elapsed times’ may be derived by adjusting recorded times to reflect differing fleet start times.
7.7. The race committee reserves the right to finish slower dinghies early and use average lap time to calculate results.
8. ENTRY & REGISTRATION
8.1 Entry Fee: £20.00 per boat. (to include £1.00 Lakeland Series Levy).
8.2 Enter on line via TSC Website or late entry will be available on arrival at Registration in the TSC Clubhouse. 8.3 Online entry closes at midnight on Tuesday 20th May.
8.4 Late entry on the day will be subject to a £5.00 surcharge.
8.5 Sailing Instructions will be provided on receipt of entry.
9. BRIEFING:
9.1 There will be a briefing in the TSC Clubhouse at 10.00 am
10. INSURANCE:
10.1 Each boat shall have 3rd Party insurance to a sum of not less than £3,000,000.
11. RISK STATEMENT:
It must be recognised that sailing is by its nature an unpredictable sport and therefore inherently involves an element of risk. By taking part in the open day, you agree and acknowledge that: (i) You are aware of the inherent element of risk involved in the sport and you accept responsibility exposing yourself to such inherent risk whilst taking parednesday t in the open day; (ii) You will comply at all times with the instructions of the Open Day Co-ordinator particularly with regard to handling of boats, wearing of buoyancy aids and the wearing of suitable clothing for the conditions; (iii) You accept responsibility for any injury, damage or loss to the extent caused by your own negligence; (iv) You will not participate in the event whilst your ability to skipper or crew a dinghy is impaired by alcohol, drugs or whilst otherwise unfit to participate; (v) The provision of patrol boat cover is limited to such assistance, as can be practically provided in the circumstances.
