Great North Run: Runners / Helpers Wanted 15th September

Every year the Club has held a post run barbque on the day of the Great North Run on behalf of the Susan Channon Breast Cancer Trust. Our Commodore, Paul Cook has agreed that the Club can be used again this year on Sunday 15th September.

In the past a number of Club members have helped out by manning the rescue boat (which is used to ferry runners from South Shields) and by assisting in the galley or driving people from the drop off point to the sailing club. If anyone would like to help this year, please let us know.

If anyone wants to run the race for the charity, the Trust has a few places available, please contact John Griffith at jcmgriffith at  hotmail.co.uk  or Paul Cook for further information.

Lasers at Cragside

What an interesting day I’ve had – helping Wolfgang install 3 modified lasers onto the top lake as part of Cragside’s 150th birthday celebrations. The photos reproduced on the sails are from Armstrongs work on electric discharge patterns. There is a plan to get a few people from the club up-to Cragside 31st August for a sail as well. Anyone interested please talk to Wolfgang who has the details.

Anyone up for opening a book on how often they need attention during the 6 months planned for them to stay there?

Prizegiving dinner

As a footnote to what was a very nice evening, I need to add that overall winner of the Long Race 2012 was Sarah Piper, and she should have been awarded the Tyne Goblet (one of the better looking trophies) and an engraved glass. Sorry it was overlooked last night Sarah, we will present them to you at the next opportunity.
