Wednesday 2nd March: Talks on Tides and Rules of Racing, 7:30 for 8:00. Fickle currents and pesky give ways: How to use water flows and sailing rules to your advantage. Or, in some cases, an opportunity to learn lots of new excuses as to why they didn’t do quite as well as hoped.
Wednesday 9th March: Race Management, 7:30 for 8:00. From course laying to protests – how to run races. Especially useful if you’ve been drafted into race office duties for the season

NOTICE OF RACE
VENUE: Competitors to launch from Newburn Slipway on the tidal river Tyne upstream of Newburn Bridge on the North Bank of the river adjacent to Newburn Sports Centre. Changing facilities available in the Sports Centre. The race shall start from a line adjacent to the slipway.
PROGRAMME: First Class Start at 12.00 am. A long distance race upstream of Newburn Bridge. Race time approx 2.5 – 3 hours – depending upon conditions on the day. Separate start for each class unless numbers dictate an all class start.
TIDES: High Water at 13.40
RACING RULES: The Race to be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2013-2016
BRIEFING: There will be a briefing in the dinghy park prior to the race. This will not be held before 11.00 am
SCORING: The race result for each class will decide the prize-winners.
SERIES: The Result of the race for National Twelves to count towards the 2016 Old Spice Travellers Series.
ENTRY FEE: £14.00 per boat for National Twelves (to include Old Spice Levy)
£12.00 per boat for Enterprises
£10.00 per boat for Lasers
APRES SAIL: Competitors are encouraged to congregate after racing at the Keelman Public House where real ale and a selection of good pub fayre will be available.
The calendar has been slaved over during the break by Howard & others. We’ve kept to the longer season as there seemed to be plenty of appetite for that. And now……

NOTICE OF RACE
VENUE: Racing to be held on the tidal river Tyne upstream of Newburn Bridge. Access to the water from Newburn Slipway on the North Bank adjacent to Newburn Sports Centre. Changing facilities available in the Sports Centre.
PROGRAMME: First race to start at 11.30 am; Second & third races to follow.
TIDES: High Water at 1.34 pm
RACING RULES: Racing to be governed by the current Racing Rules of Sailing
BRIEFING: There will be a briefing in the dinghy parking prior to racing. This will not be held before 11.00 am
SCORING: Appendix A of the Racing Rules of Sailing shall apply. If 3 races sailed 1 result will be discarded. If 2 races sailed both results will count (ie: no discard)
SERIES: Overall Results of the National Twelve racing to count towards the Old Spice Travellers Series.
ENTRY FEE: £14.00 per boat for National Twelves (to include Old Spice Levy)

Its The Great North Run again on Sunday 13th September, and we will be welcoming runners back to the club. There will be food and a bar at the club in the afternoon and up to about 6pm: So don’t be shy, come and have a bite and a beer.
