1st Friday for Cadets & Juniors

Friday night junior and cadets at Tynemouth Sailing Club
Friday night junior and cadets at Tynemouth Sailing Club

Great session: all got afloat, all sailed a course and all got back in.
I heard the water was cold out there, well done Caroline and Leon for testing it for us. Great fun.
Thanks must go to Helen from the RYA who was a very welcome  addition to our team, and to all the parents who dragged boats up the beach; we couldn’t do it without you.
Looking forward to next week…..Sarah P

Friday Night Sailing Starts 26th April.

This year we want to start Friday Nights earlier so that we don’t have boats launching at 7.15!

The Juniors and Cadets are assembling at 5.30 with a target time on the water of 6.00. The Friday night team – Sarah, George & Sarah  –  are looking forward to starting tomorrow, and will see you all some time before 5:30 (remember we  are at the rowing club across the way – see the map below), lets hope the wind plays ball for our first session on the water.

Starting Time

Dear all

It seems a few of the Tynemouth sailors got caught out on the 1st Sunday sailing with South Shields as the race STARTED ON TIME !!

Might be useful to note that we perhaps have devloped a few bad habits over time with the Sunday start time being a bit flexible and determined when everyone got to the line. So ‘note to self’ (as I have the Solo back and looking lovely after some TLC) get down early to sort boat out to get to start line on time.

Coastal Communities Grant

A quick update on the above. The funding received by the council earlier this year did not allow for improvement works at the Haven. The feedback as to why, seems to point to bids that got through being more effectively linked to employment opportunities. Which the Haven one does not contain. The same conditions apply to the 2nd round of CCG bid applications. So sadly not possible to put in a bid in with any confidence.

But you never know, future opportunities might arise. Discussions with the council indicate that they will keep this as a live matter and, as and when new grant bids open up, they will be explored.

So for the time being keep those rubber mats in place !!
