Notice of Race

Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th April, 2026
1. Venue

Tynemouth Sailing Club, Priors Haven, Tynemouth.

Racing to be held at sea or on the Tyne Estuary, depending upon conditions. 

Access to the water from Priors Haven, Tynemouth, on the north bank of the Tyne Estuary adjacent to Tynemouth Priory. Changing and refreshment facilities available in the Clubhouse.

2. Programme

(1). Six races programmed over the two days.

(2). First race on Saturday: Start at 2.00 pm. Second and third races to follow.

(3). First race on Sunday to start at 10.30am.  Two further races to follow.

(4). No warning signal after 3.00pm on Sunday 26th April

3. Tides

High Water at 11.00hrs on Saturday 25th April and 12.19hrs on Sunday 26th April

4. Racing Rules

The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the current Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS)and the Sailing Instructions (SI’s).  In the event of any inconsistencies between this Notice of Race and the Sailing Instructions; the Sailing Instructions will prevail. 

The (30%) Exoneration Penalty and Arbitration of RRS Appendix T will be available to competitors. See official Notice Board for details.

5. Entry and registration

Late entry also available on the day at TSC Clubhouse. 

Entry Fee:  £40.00 per boat if entered before 6.00pm on Saturday 18th April. Fee increased to £45.00 after this time.

6. Briefing

There will be a briefing in the clubhouse at 1.00pm on Saturday 25th April

7. Courses

Racing at sea: Windward-Leeward, Triangle, P-course at sea, or Harbour Courses: in adverse weather conditions. A map of marks in the estuary is available by clicking here.

8. Scoring

If four or more races are sailed, one result may be discarded. Scoring as per Appendix A low point.

9. Insurance

Each boat shall have Third Party insurance to a sum of not less than £3,000,000.                                                                                                                                                                            

10. Apres Sail

Competitors, their family and friends are encouraged to gather at the clubhouse for a pie supper (additional charges apply)  after sailing on Saturday evening. The bar will also be open for liquid refreshment. 

11. Photo consent

Competitors should note photographs of the event may be used for publicity or social media posts by the organisers.
