been down the club today, seems the last storm swept a lot of the sand at the top of the beach away, and pushed some of the heavy wooden pieces around on the carpark.
Could make for an interesting working party.
Our series of Tynemouth Sailing Club winter talks has been planned – and we will be holding them on a Wednesday at 8.00 p.m. for no more than an hour. See below for the program (and in the calendar shortly) & other events pre-season.
Although four of the talks are aimed at “Lasers” much of the content will be applicable to other boats as well. They will be aimed at those who have started sailing relatively recently and will not be “expert” although we plan to show some of the coaching DVDs. THere may be a couple of additons to the programme below. We hope to see a good number of you for the talks and afterwards at the bar, as well as at other events.
Did you know we have 25 laser owners?! We have; ( or will have next season) we’ve just counted. Imagine if we all sailed at once! The sailing committee have been tossing around a few ideas for getting “more people sailing more often , more people racing more often” to quote the RYA’s current refrain. These include as possibilities
However we cannot sensibly decide these in glorious isolation. We need to know your constraints, your wishes, your thoughts about what we do to make next season attractive and accessible for you. We need to do this soon to sort out the programme. So we would very much like your presence at a TSC Laser Class
Meeting to be held on Wednesday January 2nd at 20.00 hrs at the club. ( New Year hangovers should have subsided and if not you can have a “hair of the dog”.) The bar will be pre-warmed and the beer cold.

Well, we sometomes have to stall the start of races for all sorts of reasons – a big ship in the fairway, majority of sailors not at the start… but this was a first.
We had to hold the start of the racing for nearly an hour while the tide came in & the land rover started to float. By then the police, coastguard anyone with a flashing light o the top of the car was at the scene helping.
Pity the poor driver – a moments inattention and he was stuck.
