2025 Winter Series & 2026 Frostbite Series
NOTICE OF RACE
INTRODUCTION: TSC have agreed terms with Coquet Shorebase Trust for use of their facilities
(including boat storage) at Ladyburn Lake on winter Sundays. The Series will proceed providing TSC
has received at least 20 fully paid entries prior to 5.00pm on Friday 24th October 2025
VENUE: Ladyburn Lake is located at Druridge Bay Country Park, Northumberland. The launching
slipway is located adjacent to the ‘Coquet Shorebase Trust’ (CST) boathouse & compound next to the
‘visitor centre’, cafe and main car park at the eastern end of the lake. Changing rooms and hot
showers are available in ‘Coquet Shorebase Trust’ [CST] premises.
PROGRAMME: 2025 Winter Series from Sun 2nd November to Sun 28th December (27 races)
2026 Frostbite Series from Sun 4th January to Sun 8th March (30 Races)
Three 30 minute (approx) back to back races each Sunday – 1st start @ 11.00am
CLASSES: Open to all classes with a PY > 938. Committee Boat starts & courses displayed from
course board on Committee Boat.
RACING RULES: All races to be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing 2025-2028 and TSC SI’s.
One turn penalty applies as specified under Para 15 of TSC Sailing Instructions [SI’s] . This alters
RRS 44.1 [Penalties]. Para 8 of TSC SI’s specifies the start signals to be used.
COURSES: There are 8 fixed turning marks around the lake. These will be supplemented with laid
bladder buoys to enhance racing courses and ensure windward legs. Courses will be displayed on the
Committee Boat.
SCORING: 50% of races sailed to count for Series prizes.
INSURANCE: Each boat must have third party insurance to a sum of not less than £3,000,000. See
TSC Club Rule 15 & Para 1 of TSC Sailing Instructions [SI’s] [see TSC Website]
ENTRY FEE: £30.00 for each series, reduced to £50.00 for both. This includes use of changing
rooms and hot showers together with all Northumberland CC launch fees for each series. . The entry
fee does not include car park charges but a season ticket at a reduced fee is available at the cafe.
The closing date for the 2025 Winter Series Entry will be 5.00pm on Friday 31st October 2025.
The closing date for the 2026 Frostbite Series Entry will be 5.00 pm on Friday 2nd January 2026
Late entries will be accepted on a daily basis at £12.50 per day
Entry Fees payable via ‘Spond’
BOAT STORAGE FEE: As with last year the ‘compound’ storage fee of £40.00 per boat has been
agreed for the full winter season. However there is limited space so places will be allocated in order of receipt of full season entry fees. CST wish to restrict the number of boats stored inside their ‘shed’ to a maximum of three boats; so this facility will be available only to wooden boats whose fee will be £60.00 for the season.
